Their Work

The Nairobi Feline Sanctuary is committed to helping cats within their community, and to educating the public on the importance of vaccinations, as well as spay & neuter for healthy pets.

Established in 2020 by Rachel Kabue, the sanctuary is the only shelter solely dedicated to domestic and feral cats in Kenya, with a special interest in rescuing the city’s most vulnerable cats.

In their efforts to get the cats off the streets and humanely manage the stray population, the sanctuary helps to protect local wildlife and limits the transmission of diseases like rabies. Cats who are taken in by the team at the Nairobi Feline Sanctuary receive veterinary medical treatment and are always spayed or neutered. Any adoptable cats are found suitable homes, while others who are too medically vulnerable and require long-term care are able to live out the remainder of their lives in comfort at the sanctuary.

SPCA International is proud to support the Nairobi Feline Sanctuary as they continue to grow and create a positive impact for the homeless, ill, and injured felines in their community.
