Mission, Vision & Values

Mission Statement
To advance the safety and well-being of animals.

Vision Statement
Our vision is for all animals to live a life free of cruelty and suffering.

Values Statement
SPCA International embraces, above all, kindness, respect, compassion, awareness and integrity in all aspects of our mission and vision for a cruelty-free world.

Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (S.P.C.A.) International works to stop the abuse and suffering of animals with innovative programs that serve both animals and their human caretakers.

Veterinary Supply Aid
SPCA International distributes critical veterinary medical supplies to animal welfare groups throughout the world. As a result, organizations in developing countries have been able to provide vaccinations, sterilizations and necessary medical care for more animals. SPCA International has distributed millions of dollars in veterinary supplies and medication to organizations on almost every continent.

Education Initiatives
SPCA International delivers important, actionable information to pet parents, animal activists and concerned citizens to help improve the lives of animals around the world. Serving as a hub for information and activism, SPCA International educates concerned citizens about a variety of animal welfare issues and promotes the improved treatment of animals through government policy around the globe.

Shelter Support
SPCA International serves and partners with shelters, rescue groups and governments around the world. We provide grants to small shelters, rescue organizations and advocacy groups to support their life-saving work. Through these unique and pioneering partnerships, local organizations are able to rescue, treat, rehabilitate, feed, sterilize and home more animals than ever before.

Military Support
Patriot Pets (formerly known as Operation Baghdad Pups: Worldwide) and Apollo’s Aid (formerly known as Operation Military Pets) serve dogs and cats beloved by members of the U.S. military, veterans and their families, as well as refugees. With individual grants and extraordinary rescue efforts, SPCA International saves these cherished patriot pets and reunites them with their military friends.

PAWsitive Recovery
PAWsitive Recovery is about the powerful bond between humans and animals. Offering
incredible programs like temporary pet foster care, pet visits for those in need, volunteer
opportunities, animal-focused therapy, and workshops. Our goal is to give people in
recovery and animals in shelters a new “leash” on life, helping them heal from the wounds of
addiction, trauma, and abuse.

SPCA International is committed to efficiency and transparency. We communicate with our supporters, donors and prospective donors by email, postal mail and other means, both to request contributions and to educate the public about SPCA International’s programs, important pet parenting tips, spay and neuter, animal rights and global animal welfare advocacy. These efforts support our mission to advance the safety and well-being of animals. As a result, in accordance with the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) guidelines and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) guidance, SPCA International allocates a portion of our fundraising costs to program services. As a nonprofit organization that is exempt from federal taxation, we ensure our donors’ money is spent as efficiently and effectively as possible.
