Their Work

Founded in 2005, the Llama Sanctuary is an organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes alpacas and llamas in need.

The Llama Sanctuary facility has become a safe haven for llamas in need. With the onset of COVID, many were no longer able to care for their llama and alpacas, leading to an increase in people releasing their livestock to the wild. The Llama Sanctuary rescued those animals, gave them necessary medical care, and nursed them back to health. In addition to their facility being open to guests and education programs for proper care of llamas, something special about this organization is that they primarily earn funds through the sale of homemade yarns from the shearing of their animals.

After hearing of the Llama Sanctuary’s success of aiding around 150 animals a year, SPCA International wanted to lend them a helping hand as their need for assistance increased with the growing number of animals in their care.
