Their Work

It is almost difficult to inconceivable that in a time of one of the most heinous civil wars and extreme violence, where thousands of people are dying and fleeing the country of Syria, that a team of animal lovers from Damascus City is actively rescuing, feeding and treating the strays left behind.

Thousands of animals are currently being poisoned, abused and/or are starving to death because of the unfathomable atrocities inflicted upon them by this war. It may be easier for most to look away when they see the horrifying images of people and animals suffering and dying, but the all-volunteer team at SARA will not look away.

SARA (Syrian Association for Rescuing Animals) is the only known animal welfare society still left in the country. They do not have a shelter because resources are depleted, and the funding is tough to come by. SPCA International is honored to assist their unmatched efforts with a Shelter Support Fund Grant.  Please consider supporting their efforts by visiting their page below.
