Their Work

Education for African Animal Welfare (EAAW) is a nongovernmental organization that seeks to raise awareness on the care and protection of animals, especially dogs, cats and working animals. This young organization has been working to improve the lives of animals in Tanzania for over two years.

EAAW runs mobile veterinary clinics for dogs and cats, providing rabies vaccinations and preventive medication. They also strongly believe in spay and neuter, and were able to sterilize 120 roaming dogs during their 2019 campaign.  Although adoption is not firmly in place in their community, EAAW educates children in primary schools about treating animals with kindness and dignity, and also works to train their community on the proper care and protection of animals. The team seeks to conduct a TNVR program for the stray dogs and cats they feed regularly, with a goal to help 1,800 animals.

SPCA International is proud to support Education for African Animal Welfare in their holistic, community-centered approach to help improve the lives of animals and people in Tanzania.
