Their Work

Founded in 2005, Amigos de los Animales (ADLA) provides rescue, rehabilitation and adoption to the abandoned and abused animals of Loiza, Puerto Rico.

Located in one of the poorest areas of Puerto Rico ADLA rescues 240 dogs annually. In addition to the care they bring to the animals they rescue, ADLA works with the local community to promote humane treatment of animals through educational programs and low-cost spay/neuter clinics. ADLA also collaborates with the Puerto Rico Department of Health and the New Jersey corporation Career Development Institute to provide Puerto Rico’s only 6-day Animal Control Officer-Cruelty Investigator certification course.

SPCA International is proud to support Amigos de los Animales and their tireless efforts as they continue to grow and rebuild after the 2017 hurricane season.
