LOS ANGELES (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - One lucky cat has been reunited with his rescuer after traveling all the way from Iraq.

California Navy Reservist Brad Van Cleave says he just couldn't leave behind Mr. Meowgi while working in Baghdad. He was working as a government contractor at the airport there when he says every morning the kitten would purr away, giving him his telling name -- Mr. Meowgi.

When it came time to return to his family, Brad says he didn't want to leave him behind.

So the SPCA International and Operation Baghdad Pups brought the two back together again.

Mr. Meowgi hopped on a plane to Erbil, then Frankfurt, Germany, then New York before arriving in Los Angeles and into Brad's arms.
