Fighting Rabies Worldwide

Every year on September 28, people across the globe come together to recognize World Rabies Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness and taking action against this deadly yet preventable disease. At SPCA International, we’re proud to join the movement by supporting our shelter partners worldwide with lifesaving anti-rabies initiatives.

This year, we’re providing over $30,000 in funding to support vaccination efforts in Tanzania, Pakistan, and Uganda, where rabies continues to threaten animals and people. These funds will help vaccinate nearly 18,000 strays, shelter dogs, and community pets. By helping shelters and communities carry out widespread vaccination campaigns, we’re protecting beloved animals and keeping entire neighborhoods safe.

The best way to do this is through mass vaccinations. When most animals in a community are vaccinated, rabies can’t spread. That means fewer animals get sick, fewer people are at risk, and communities are safer for everyone.

Eliminating rabies is more than just a health initiative; it’s about compassion, safety, and creating a world where people and animals can thrive together. Every vaccine administered brings us closer to a future where rabies is nothing more than a memory.
