Their Work

Pet Adoption League of New York, is a non-profit foster based organization working on a national scale rescuing Chow Chows and Chow mixes as part of the Chow Chow Rescue Network.

While they are based in New York and members of the Mayor’s Alliance for Animals of the City of New York, they work across the country to find foster and forever homes to dogs in shelters who are on death row, who have been abandoned and abused and who are in badly need of veterinary attention. They provide all necessary medical care as well as transport. Although the organization specializes in the rescue and placement of Chow Chow and Chow mixes, they do take in other breeds when the need is great.

Pet Adoption League is especially committed to the rescue of senior and adult dogs that have less of a chance for being adopted in a shelter. For this reason, their financial needs are often quite high due to large medical bills. A Shelter Support Grant from SPCA International will enable to ease some of this strain.  Apart from needing financial support, they are always looking for good, reliable homes so that they can continue to save more abandoned and neglected dogs.
