Their Work

The Kauai Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Kauai SPCA) is a no-kill, foster-based animal rescue organization founded in 2017 by a compassionate group of Kauai business leaders, veterinarians, and animal welfare advocates. They provide a safety net for Kauai’s homeless pets that cannot be saved by existing rescues or shelters.

As part of their Second Chance Program, Kauai SPCA collaborates with the Kauai Humane Society (KHS) – the only open-admission shelter on the island – to alleviate the strain on the organization. Kauai SPCA takes in animals from KHS that have severe medical or behavioral needs for rehabilitation and, eventually, adoption. Kauai SPCA also works with rescues and shelters in California, Oregon, and Washington to relocate adoptable animals to the mainland so that they may find loving homes and help alleviate the pet overpopulation issue on Kaua’i.

SPCA International is proud to support this organization as they continue to nurture adoptable animals and engage the Kauai community to save homeless and injured animals.
