Their Work

Dumaguete Animal Sanctuary was established in June 2019 by Christine Askew and her husband Robie Bernardo with a vision to help the neglected, abused and abandoned animals in Dumaguete.

Dumaguete Animal Sanctuary now cares for 30 dogs with two full-time caretakers who live on site. They rely entirely on the generosity of the public to maintain the sanctuary, where they currently only rescue animals who are in severe need of assistance. All animals in their care receive veterinary treatment and are spayed or neutered. The team at Dumaguete are now working to start a free spay and neuter program for indigenous and low-income local families, to help humanely manage the stray population.

SPCA International is proud to support Dumaguete Animal Sanctuary as they continue to expand their operations and help create a brighter future for stray animals in their community.
