FORT PIERCE — The Humane Society of St. Lucie County has been honored by SPCA International with a grant award totaling $1,000, in recognition of the outstanding work the HSSLC is accomplishing and in support of the shelter’s continued efforts to improve the lives of animals in the community.
The grant was awarded after the SPCAI became aware of the HSSLC’s efforts to house animals seized in a hoarding situation though the use of foster homes and through placement in the shelter.
In notifying the HSSLC of the grant award, J.D. Winston, executive sirector of SPCAI wrote, “All of us here at SPCA International applaud your tireless efforts. We sincerely hope that this grant award will make it possible for you to expand the wonderful work you are doing in support of the animals.”
