Their Work

Mission K9 Rescue is a non-profit organization located near Houston, Texas. They are dedicated to the service of retiring and retired military working dogs and contract working dogs worldwide.

The organization’s purpose is to serve, rehabilitate, and find homes for retiring and retired military working dogs, contract working dogs, and other dogs who have served overseas and within the U.S.

The organization’s founders Kristen Maurer, Louisa Kastner and Bob Bryant believe that these heroic dogs have a right to a good retirement, a loving home, and life long care. They work tirelessly to find these deserving dogs a home after they have been retired or discharged from duty. Many people don’t know that there are literally thousands of these dogs that have risked their lives protecting our military personnel through bomb detection, drug detection, weaponry and much more. Now, they deserve a chance to rest and play as they move on from their service. Mission K9 Rescue provides monetary, transportation, adoption, veterinary and professional assistance for all retired dogs coming into their care.

Mission K9 is a non-profit organization that relies solely on donations and host of volunteers that provide invaluable assistance. We recently teamed up with this wonderful group to facilitate the care and adoptions of 21 retiring mine detection dogs that arrived from Afghanistan and are so proud to support them with a Shelter Support Grant for all their hard work.
