Their Work

Laurie Deese founded Best Friends Dog Rescue in 2001 with the mission to rescue dogs and puppies that have been abandoned, mistreated or unwanted in Cairo, Georgia.

Every dog that comes into their care is vet checked, spayed or neutered and then placed into secure loving homes where they can live out the life that they deserve, a life that failed them once before.

Best Friends Dog Rescue also works on educating the importance of spay and neuter and responsible pet ownership within their community due to the high number of unnecessary euthanizations at local shelters. Realizing the need for low cost spay and neuter options to offset financial strain for many dog owners, Best Friends Dog Rescue travels twice a month to surrounding communities to offer sterilization clinics at a reduced rate.
