Their Work

Founded in 2004 in Alberta, Canada by Mike and Kathy Bartley, Bear Valley Rescue has saved countless horses from slaughter and pregnant mare urine farms.

Bear Valley Rescue is home to roughly 150 horses and other resident farm animals such as cows, chickens and llamas. In addition to their rescue efforts Bear Valley Rescue provides sanctuary, finds adoptive homes, and gives a lot of love and veterinary care to their herd. In 2015 Bear Valley rescue was recognized as the first equine sanctuary in Canada to be verified by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries.

SPCA International is proud to support Bear Valley Rescue and the amazing rescues and refuge they provide.
