Operation Baghdad Pups
U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan befriend local animals as a way to help cope with the emotional hardships they endure every day while deployed in a war zone. The Operation Baghdad Pups program provides veterinary care and coordinates complicated logistics and transportation requirements in order to reunite these beloved pets with their service men and women back in the U.S. These important animals not only help our heroes in the war zone, but they also help them readjust to life back home after combat.

The dog who saved human lives.
Meet Rocky – a military mutt in Afghanistan that became a hero by saving countless U.S. troops from a suicide bomber. That’s right, he saved our troops and now SPCA International is trying to bring him home. Unfortunately, getting him out is not going to be easy. Read his story - we need your help to get him home!
Success Story: Daisy
Life for people and animals in Iraq is dangerously precarious. Unexpected events that can forever alter someone’s existence are an everyday reality. Two soldiers and a dog experienced this when a chain of events was put in motion and their worlds overlapped. Sergeant Steven Christofferson was killed in Iraq on April 21, 2008.
Success Story: One Eye
The name One Eye, suggests that this Iraqi cat has a limited view of the world around him. But in fact, he has two eyes. Born and abandoned by their mother, One Eye and his littermates were adopted by several kindhearted Marines. Today, One Eye is living safely in the U.S. and has undergone miraculous surgery to improve his vision.
Penny: The dog who was shot, but survived.
Penny is currently on the Operation Baghdad Pups waiting list. The marine who wants to adopt her and bring her home to the United States shared her incredible story of love, tragedy and survival with us and we want to share it with you. This amazing dog deserves a home out of the war zone. Please help us bring Penny home in 2010.
