Operation Baghdad Pups Must Continue!
The Operation Baghdad Pups mission is not over even though U.S. troops have pulled out of Iraq. Over 16,000 American and their animals still remain in Iraq working to train Iraq security forces, running one of the largest U.S. embassy’s in the world and two U.S. consulates, and the FBI and CIA also have a continued presence there. And, as you know already, many U.S. troops were forced to leave their animals behind and the SPCA International team is set to go back to Iraq to rescue them this month.
Many of these American civilians and contractors will remain in Iraq through 2012 and beyond. SPCA International is committed to helping all Americans in Iraq get their animals to safe, loving homes in the U.S. We will not stop until all these patriot pets are safe.

The Whole Tail: Sadie and Her Pups
Just a youngster herself, Sadie became a first time mom on November 14. Born on the harsh streets of Southern Iraq, Sadie and her mom – Mama – fell into good fortune when U.S. soldier Robert Wade and his unit took the scraggly dogs into their care. Now Sadie and her six pups are waiting to begin a journey to their new home in the United States – a journey that almost didn’t happen.

Operation Baghdad Pups: Mission #99
I’ve been asked time and time again if I think the Operation Baghdad Pups program is “worth it” and I’ve never faltered in saying yes. After experiencing everything firsthand, I wish I could relay just how much it matters, to do this for not only the animals, but also the soldiers serving our country. I’m afraid I will never find the words to say how truly amazing this experience was and how important it is for SPCA International to be able to continue to help in every way possible.

Terri Crisp opens up about her new book “No Buddy Left Behind”
No Buddy Left Behind is the story about Operation Baghdad Pups, a program of SPCA International that came into existence because of a dog name Charlie and the determination of a U.S. soldier to save his wartime buddy. The book takes the reader through the seemingly insurmountable challenges that had to be overcome in order to save Charlie. It took months of hard work but Charlie finally put his paws on American soil on February 14, 2008. This first successful mission resulted in more dogs, and even cats, being rescued for U.S. troops. Author, Terri Crisp, shares her thoughts on the book, her experience in the Middle East, and how you can help.

Please Help Us Bring Home More Buddies!
The puppy was spotted by U.S. soldiers on patrol. About a mile down the road the guys suddenly looked at each other and said, “We’ve got to go back.” Scooping up the tiny puppy, lying next to her dead mother, they brought her back to base. Now Operation Baghdad Pups has to bring Yeava home.
