Shelter Focus: Humane Society of Durham (Ontario, CA) Community-based animal organizations work diligently to find solutions to the many problems that affect animals in a local area. SPCA International recognizes how difficult a job this can be – that is why the Shelter of the Week recognition program was created. This program honors animal organizations throughout the world for outstanding work to save and protect all kinds of animals. Each shelter chosen receives a cash grant and is recognized here. YOU can nominate a shelter in your community.
SPCA International to the Rescue Hundreds of U.S. troops serving in the Middle East befriend animals in the war zone in order to cope with the hardship and terror they face every day.  Unfortunately, it is against military regulations for active duty personnel to care for an animal, let alone bring it home using military resources.  U.S. troops need your help!  Learn about the program and how you can help support U.S. troops and their loyal pets.

U.S. troops in the Middle East have no way to transport home the animals they befriend in the war zone.  Your contribution to this effort is a way to say thank you for their service. Your donation of $20 can provide absorbent pads, food and water for a dog or cat while they travel; $75 can buy an airline crate for transport; $150 can cover the cost of vaccinations and travel paperwork. Donate Now!

Cats are often surrendered and euthanized because of low cat adoption rates and limited space, but sometimes it takes just one more day, one more week, one more month for a cat to find a forever home. Just $10 can provide food and refuge for one more cat for one more day; $70 can support one cat for one more week; $300 can support it for an entire month. Donate Now!

Shelters and rescue groups across the globe face unexpected emergencies every day – fire, burglary, natural disasters, or an influx of animals from a hording or abuse confiscation.  Without help from an SPCA International emergency grant, animals often have to die when a shelter is hit by such an emergency.  Your donation of $25, $50 or $100 can provide grant relief to a shelter experiencing these difficult times. Donate Now!
